Opinel knives can be characterized by high quality, reliability and a simple timeless design that has many fans. Production takes place in the Savoy Alps in France, where the knives are hand-assembled and sharpened. The history of Opinel dates back to 1890, when Joseph Opinel made his first knife and its tradition continues to this day. With regard to the ecology, 95% of the wood used in the production of handles comes from France and only wood for the production of luxury series or gift knives is imported. The knife blades are made of Swedish Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel or XC90 carbon steel. The Viroblock lock guarantee a safety use.
