Wood Jewel Jätkänpuukko 23J is a smaller traditional Finnish puukko knife with a fixed blade. It is a simple, practical and very reliable knife. Jätkänpuukko literally means lumberjack knife - Jätkä is an ancient Finnish name for a lumberjack and a puukko is a Finnish term for knife.
Carbon steel blade
The 7,7 cm blade from carbon steel 80CrV2 is sharp and robust, which makes it ideal for outdoor use. Additionally, the blade is equipped with a groove on the front, intended for use with a firesteel. Blade has a scandi grind and a classic straight back shape. 80CrV2 carbon steel is a common choice for scandinavian knife, due to its properities. This steel is known for its extreme toughness and quite good hardness at the same time. On top of that, this carbon steel it is really easy to sharpen.
Curly birch handle
The handle of the knife is skillfully crafted using a combination of curly birch, reindeer antler, and brass bolster. This blend of materials enhances the knife's aesthetics and provides a comfortable grip during use.
Leather sheath and a firesteel
The package includes a leather sheath with a traditional Nordic animal pattern and a firesteel with reindeer antler handle. Traditionally nordic knives are made from local materials such as scandinavian steel, curly birch wood, reindeer antler and leather. Wood Jewel knives are primarily made of carbon steel, only a few models use stainless steel. Knives from Wood Jewel have classic scandinavian blade geometry, which is ideal for outdoor use.
